Parallel computing era to begin soon

The concept of parallel computing was found a long time ago,but computer specialist were never able to integrate such power on an Desktop.The algorithms were too complex and long ranged for the normal desktop PC's to process and function.So ultimately the concept was applied to super computers which could compute trillions of instructions per second.But now due to the continuous improvements in the computer field,latest processors such as the core 2 duo and the quad core can handle much more load than the previous generation computers and can compute much faster.But recently the researchers at the University of Maryland say that they have found powerful algorithms that can integrate the power of Parallel computing in Desktop PC's.If this can be specialized and made much better then these super PC's can be used for several purposes that were un-imaginable till now.Now that the foundation has been laid,its just the time required for these speed freaks to be commercialized before they could hit the market.
