MySpace To Block Illegal Music Uploads!!

MySpace is moving to stop its users illegally uploading music content by introducing fingerprinting technology to the website. The site will scan all uploaded music, check it against a database of rights holders and block any protected content. Users who repeatedly try to upload content illegally will be barred from the site. The fingerprint technology is to be licensed from software firm Gracenote. Social networks invite users to upload images, audio and video but many sites contain a large proportion of copyrighted content. MySpace is the latest firm to announce steps to fend off potential legal action by major music, TV and film companies. The social networking site has around 120m registrations, though the number of active users is believed to be far less than that. Around 3m bands use the site to promote and sell their music by uploading it.

"This is another important step we're taking to ensure artists control the content they create," said Chris DeWolfe, MySpace's co-founder and CEO.

"MySpace is staunchly committed to protecting artists' rights - whether those artists are on major labels or are independent acts."

Social networking sites Bolt.com and Guba already have similar filtering systems and YouTube is reported to be introducing one shortly. MySpace said the next step will be to look at filtering video content. During July, 1.5bn videos were watched on the site by 37.4m users.

Make Firefox Faster!!!

Well i had been using Mozilla FireFox(previously known as Netscape Navigator)for quite a while ,for about a year. This thingy is sensational and i'm pleased to say that about 95% of the spyware has been reduced since i have started using mozilla. Thanks a million to those who deliver excellent quality add-ons avaiable free at mozilla.com!Now i have come across a tweak for the browser which increases the speed of the browser to about 2-3 times the orginal speed.so just simply follow these steps....

FireFox Load Time

1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll
down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time.
When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really
speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This
means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer.
Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0".
This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

If you're using a brodband connection you'll load pages 2-3 times faster now.

Thats it and you will experience a new level of internet surfing with mozilla,i have been using this and it works very well. So try it right away and give a BOOST To your Surfing Experience!!

Truly Amazing!!

Its truly amazing to know how our brains work.It is a known fact that "we don't always see what we think we see",to justify this sentence take a look at the picture....

In this picture ....

1. If you stare at the blinking dots we see only one color ,pink.
2. If you look at the the + in the center, you will see a circle of pink dots and a rotating green dot.
3.
Now, stare at the + without moving your eyes.
The pink dots will disappear and you will see only a rotating green dot.

But the fact is that there are no green dots or the pink one's don't really disappear ,its just an illusion created by our brain. OMG human brain is truly amzing!!

Open Source Pulls in $1.8 Billion!!

A new IDC study has said that the growth in adoption of stand-alone open source software is accelerating and that the total market will be worth US$5.8 billion in 2011.The market reached $1.8 billion in 2006, and will grow 26 percent annually for the next four years, the firm predicted. The study is a relatively unusual effort to treat the sprawling, quick-changing open source software market as a serious business, and indicates the growing business acceptance of open source software.IDC found that the open source market is in a significant stage of growth, as previous barriers to adoption fall away. This is particularly true in the business world, where companies are waking up to the fact that open source opens up more choices and gives them something to use as a bargaining chip with proprietary software vendors.
Software distribution is growing, but revenues will take longer to follow suit, researchers found. That's partly because much open source software is free, while other products use a subscription revenue model rather than getting users to pay a lump sum up front.

Mobile Phone Secrets!!!

Well we all use Cell phones, particularly this has been an golden era for mobiles.Almost every home has got one(even those who has not got landlines),and not to mention the college students(like me)the cell has been an mandatory one used to send messages to every known number.I know many colleges(sadly not my college) in which messages are sent from back bench to the front during teaching hours(wat a past time). So the mobile has revolutionized the whole of speaking methodology ,message(sms) has become the "language of students".And not to mention the models that arrive in the market daily(believe me there is even a mobile that can be used to operate all household appliances)with new technologies such as infrared, bluetooth are coming out in tonnes. In this post lets see about some nice info about cell phones that might be useful in different circumstances.so here we go....

FIRST

Sub: Emergency

The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find yourself out of
coverage area of your mobile network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the
mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you,
and interestingly this number 112 can be dialled even if the keypad is locked. Try it out.

SECOND

Subject: Have you locked your keys in the car? Does your car have remote keys at
Home?
If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home
on their cell phone from your cell phone.
Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your
home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car
will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no
object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has
the other "remote" for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).

It has been atested and it works!!!

THIRD

Subject: Hidden Battery power

Imagine your cell battery is very low, you are expecting an important call and you don't
have a charger. Nokia instrument comes with a reserve battery. To activate, press the keys *3370# Your cell will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell next time.(it works in most of the nokia models except for a few)

AND FINALLY...

FOURTH

How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone:
* # 0 6 # . A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your
handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. When your phone gets stolen,
you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to
block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally
useless.

You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it
can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing
mobile phones.

cool facts na.Espicially that car unlocking thing,i loved it,so use these and UNLOCK the full potential of your mobile phone.

All you need to know about:Rapidshare-part1

Rapidshare-which describes itself as the "The future of 1-Click Webhosting" is the most preferred uploading site by millions of uploaders(including me).So why people uplaod in this warez hell??here is what they say

"A nearly endless scalable system has been designed with more than 1680 Terabytes of space and 90 Gigabit/s of internet-bandwidth have been set-up".

wow who would not fall far this, and upto to certain extent this is true,i personally tried their services and am very satisfied. When i download from rapidshare i get full speed(mine is a 512kbbs)of abt 60kb/s.

Ok that ought to do for the introduction,so whats are the benefits of rapidshare??

* The first answer is the their Premium account scheme.

whats that premium account scheme??

When you purchase premium account from rapidshare(go here purchase of premium) this is what you get

Feature-OverviewPremiumFree
Download-LimitNo limits¹Limited
Max. parallel downloadsUnlimited1
Use RapidUploader to upload files
Support for Download-AcceleratorsNo
Resume aborted downloadsNo
Downloads start without delaysNo
Extra slots, if the servers are fullNo
RapidShare Direct-DownloadsNo
When are YOUR files deleted?Never!²45 days without download

so as the table shows the benefits of going premium-:

* You can download many files at once(which is not possible in case of a free user)

* You can use Download accelerators such as DAP to download and Resume downloads

* When you go premium you need not wait between files, which you must when you are a free user(waiting time is abt 60 files for 100mb you download).

The thing that makes rapidshare special is that about 45% of the files are there in their servers ,so people don't hesitate to go premium, especially when you get thousand of movies and millions of $ worth softwares for spending just $10(one month account cost).

So i cant buy an account its too costly!what are the alternatives??
Rapidshare has a feature called collector's zone(more will be explained about this in my next post).Non-Premium users can subscribe to this collectors zone for free and upload their files(as i'm doing right now). When a free users Download the files you have uploaded you get 1-Premium point. So you continiously upload files and get points, when you reach 10000 points Rapidshare gives an option of exchanging these 10000 points for a month's premium account. This is the best offer for the free users(also an way where rapidshare makes sure users use only their servers, just another business trick).so you can enjoy premium previliges for a month via this scheme for free.

The files uploaded to Rapidshare are mainly warez( (i)legal s/w,movies ect..)so how do they protect themselves from law??

One-Click uplaoders such as rapidshare escape from these pits by quoting a statement in their "IMPRINT" saying that
"We have no control or knowledge of the files being uploaded by the users.llegal files will be deleted as soon as we get notice about them. We will also put them on an internal black-list so they can't be uploaded again."

this is what they say but soon after a file is deleted a new one arises .

Every person working in Rapidshare knows that their servers are full of Illegal content(that is what they want even though they act as if they have no idea)and even the Anti-Piracy officials know about these ,but they are powerless to do anything due to this IMPRINT statements. The maximum they can do is report some links and rapidshare would delete them, but within a matter of few seconds new one will arise. So this is an never ending process and as long as there is warez available and uploaders to upload them Rapidshare will live for ever!!

More about rapidshare will be continued on the second part!!

8-core Intel Workstation Pounds the 16-core AMD Platform!!

Intel's Core 2 Duo CPU architecture clearly wiped the floor with AMD's X2 line-up last year. However, AMD is expected to dethrone Intel's current C2D CPUs with their native quad-cores later this year. But, as Intel is ready to release its own 45nm quad-cores next year, it looks like the supremacy war on the CPU market could go on forever... assuming that AMD is able to withstand the pressure, that is.The two archenemies were present at Microprocessor Forum this week and presented all sorts of advanced technologies. With AMD strutting Barcelona all over the Forum, Intel decided to counterattack and demoed its V8 workstation running the POV-Ray benchmark. The V8 workstation is equipped with a variety of prototype goodies that should be released in 2008: Intel's Workstation Board S5000XVN, 2 quad-core Xeons 5365 clocked at 3GHz and 16GB RAM.
If 16 cores is considered at 1.8Ghz, divided by 2 and add 60% to get to 3.0Ghz, it gives POV-Ray score of 3600 for 8 cores. Meaning that at 3.0GHz, Barcelona still lose by quite some compare to an 8 cores Clowertown system. Why do you need 16 cores, when you can do better with 8.so intel proved its point in the meeting and had given an boost to its product!!
