Microsoft has dropped the HD DVD drive price from $180 to $129 USD.This is an step taken to increase the sales of the DVD drive.This step is a must because of the fact that many of the computers have already switched to the Blu Ray technology and Microsoft needs to boost up their sales as an addon drive.

Since the decision taken by Warner Bros to switch to Blu-Ray exclusively has left the HD DVD nulled.It has certainly taken aback an lot due to the change.Warner Bros had about 18-20 % of the US markets and was leader in DVD's.Unless an breakthrough step taken by the HD DVD producers and suppliers,Blu Ray will be leading the high definition format wars!

Warner Bros switches to Blu-ray

Ho ho to all the movie freak out there,this news might be an decider to the intense battle going on between the Blu-Ray and the Hd-Dvd.At present Warner Bros is the largest producers of the DVD's and with the increasing demand for the other high def format,Warner Bros decides to stick with PS3 rather than the 360.It is expected that Warner Bros holds about 20% of the US market and its decision to produce Blu-Ray dependent movies may turn the tables for Microsoft.It will be interesting to see how the software Giant responds to this!

While the fight between HD DVD and Blu-ray is constantly increasing via the xbox 360 and PS3 consoles,more and more great players that can play the formats are being released.Recently Toshiba has released its $99 limited edition Hd DVD players,Phillips has plans of its own.Sources confirm that Phillips has developed an Blu-ray player for $99.The player can play Blu-ray discs,DVD's,Cd's.Now with the cheap blu-ray player hitting the market soon,there is some severe competition for the HD DVD.

Limited Edition $99 Toshiba HD DVD players

Now that the war has been taken to the next level between the two HD formats,HD DVD and Blu-Ray,Toshiba which is one of the largest producers of the HD DVD drives says that it will be letting out its limited edition HD DVD players on selected stores for $99.Wal Mart and Best Buy was the one to grab the offer and have advertised that they would be selling the $99 HD DVD player on 2nd November.This HD-A2 player was announced to cost around $199 and therefore this $99 would be an limited edition player.The player can output straight 720p and 1080i using the HDMI cable and will be playing the HD DVD,DVD,CD's.This step taken by Toshiba,puts HD DVD in the driver's seat.
