Sony's global Ps3 sales reach 11million

Sony spoke out that its global PS3 sales has touched more that 11 million by the end of this year.Ps3 was the last console on the queue and created quite an hype amongst the gaming fans.The sales of the console increased several folds after the introduction of the newer 40 Gb PS3 consoles.Now the Sony is fast catching among the other consoles.So there is no surprise if the sales go up by more folds!

Sony to stop producing chips

Sony recently announced that it would be selling its cell producing unit to Toshiba.The electronics giant was down trodden too much by the manufacturing and research unit.The unit has produced both wonders and has also been an pain in the back for Sony.The deal will be settled for sum of $860 Million.Instead the giant plans to invest on the CMOS image sensor technology and will spend $720 Million in several stages over three years!

New PS3 commercial attracts Xbox fans

Well it was an smooth ride for the Microsoft's Xbox360 till the recent introduction of new 40Gb PS3.Sony let out its mini version of its mega PS3 last month in Australia and will soon hit many other countries.This version available for $399 is an Eye catcher and many thinks that its an good deal.It comes with all the features of the original PS3 but with a lesser hard disk capacity and no backward compatibility for PS2 games.Now SCE has let out an new Tv commercial for its new 40Gb PS3 which is quite charming.From the talks from several forums,it is true that many of the Xbox lovers have fallen in love with the new PS3 after seeing this commercial.

This is an good opening for Sony and the new console is expected to sell big and give big profits.Now it will be quite interesting to see what Microsoft's does to counter this.

OLED TV's to come out soon!

The Sony entertainment company has revealed a TV,which uses an new technology called the OLED.This is quite different from the LCD that is currently used in many of the popular TV's.Sony says that the new TV will be introduced only in Japan as of now,and depending on the popularity it will be spread to other parts.Experts say that the new technology has brought about more quality and better clarity when compared to the LCD's.Sources confirm that this TV will be available for sale from December 07.

PlayStation 3 To Offer A Video Download Service!!

In an interview with 1Up.com, Phil Harrison, President, Worldwide Studios, Sony Computer Entertainment, said that it’s possible that soon enough PS3’s users will be able to download movies and TV shows from PlayStation Network.

Next month, on 23rd March, PlayStation 3 will be launched in the PAL territories of Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Australasia at a price of EURO 599 (GBP 425, AUD 999.95, NZ 1199.95). Sony expects to have 1 million PS3 units available in Europe during the initial launch period and they also confirmed that initially only the 60GB model will be available - with the 20GB model to follow later in the year "dependent on demand".

There are over 30 games confirmed for the European PS3 launch line-up, including fully-featured downloadable games available on the PlayStation Network. This launch might be also a good opportunity for Sony to upgrade its PlayStation Network.
